Types of Health Insurance Plans
Health insurance plans are health shields that could be availed by anyone who can afford it. There are various health plans, which are designed according to the insurers’ financial capability. This is to give everyone the health protection enough to maintain their personal and family health care.
There is a minimum to maximum health insurance available depending on the insurance coverage desired by the client. The leading insurance companies provide different types of health plans so you can choose what’s best for your needed medical protection.
Within each health plan are different levels of coverage which are created to suit your financial capacity.
The 5 Different Types of Health Insurance Plans are:
- Traditional Health Insurance – If you are very meticulous and prefers to customize your health benefits, this is the health insurance that you need
- HMO Insurance Plan (Health Maintenance Organization) – In this insurance plan, they will let you choose your main physician who will attend to your immediate needs. Any necessity for a medical specialist, you get your approval from your main physician.
- PPO Insurance Plan (Preferred Provider Organization) – In this health plan you are allowed to see any physician of your choice and specialist whenever necessary, but with specific payment agreement. This is in case where the physician is not an affiliate physician with your insurance company.
- POS Insurance Plan (Point of Service) – This is an insurance similar to the HMO but with the additional benefit of seeing another physician who is not in the preferred list. However, you will be expected to pay part of the physician’s charge. The percentage will depends on the stipulated rate on the policy.
- EPO Insurance Plan (Exclusive Provider Organization) – This is one insurance plan which is regulated by the Department of Insurance in California.
